To Tune Of: ושמחת בחגיך

*******************************************

A Kohen shall be holy, ’cause he’s elevated for sure;
He cannot become impure.
To serve in the Mishkan with a defect, is incorrect.
We can’t eat holy foods if we are Tamei.
Animals may be offered after their eighth day;
A Korban shall be acceptable in every way.

Chorus:
‘And I shall be sanctified among the Yidden…’
We have Mesiras Nefesh, lest we do something forbidden:
Through the generations, we gave up our life,
To have Mesiras Nefesh for Yiddishkeit.

We have holy Yamim Tovim, special days;
We must keep Shabbos always.
Pesach, Chag Hamatzos, each day bring a Korban;
On the first and last day, no Melacha shall be done.
Count 7 weeks from the Omer offering,
Until Shavuos, the day we got the best thing:
The Torah, which to forever we’ll cling.
Shavuos shall be designated,
To be a day holy and elevated.
For the poor, a corner of your field shall be donated.

Chorus

Rosh Hashana, the head of the year:
To remember Akeidas Yitzchak, the Shofar blows we hear.
We must fast on Yom Kippur, to Hashem return;
For those that do Teshuva, forgiveness they’ll earn.
Next Sukkos, for seven days we celebrate,
No Melacha on days 1 and 8;
Lulav, esrog, hadasim and aravos take and shake.
Sukkos, the time of gathering,
Culminating  Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur’s Avodah and doing;
For seven days in the Sukka we are sitting.

Chorus
