Beginning in New Zealand

The first flame is kindled,

The covered eyes

And whispered prayers

The light is never dwindled.

Continued through Japan,

Russia, England, to name a few,

Every woman

Magical power

Warming the world.

In Alaska

She is the very last one.

She strikes the match gently

Watches the fire flow

Through her home

It spreads the warmth,

Now feel the Shabbos glow.

Her heart explodes in happiness,

A tear rolls down her cheek.

In this chain

Stretched over the globe

She’s a very important link.
