Parshas Beraishis Recipe By Esti Lebovic
I chose to make black and white cookies because Light and Dark is the first thing that Hashem created. These cookies remind me of the many miracles that Hashem set into place.
Cookie Ingredients
- 1 cup margarine softened
- 2/3 cup of sugar
- 2 tspns vanilla
- ½ tspn salt
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups of flour
Yields 2 dozen medium or 1 dozen large cookies.
White Icing Ingredients
- 1 cup Confectioners’ sugar
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla
- 2 Tablespoons hot water
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 drop of lemon juice
Chocolate Icing Ingredients
- ¾ cup confectioner’s sugar
- 4 teaspoons cocoa
- 2 tablespoons hot water
- ½ to 1 tablespoon oil
Baking Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375. In a large mixing bowl, cream margarine and sugar. Add rest of the dough ingredients, adding eggs one at a time. Shape into medium sized (2 ½ inch) balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Space 2 inches apart to allow for spreading. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet to cool. While cookies are baking, make frostings in two separate bowls.
White Icing:
In a small bowl, mix all white icing ingredients until spreading consistency.
Chocolate Icing:
In a small bowl, mix all chocolate icing ingredients until spreading consistency.
When cookies are slightly cooled, turn over. Frost each cookie on its flat side; one half white and one half chocolate.
Enjoy!
Sorry for any confusion, but I (Esti) made this, and my mother is chaya. :)
I hope you like it!
