Ima lights candles, toddler watches lovingly
She awaits the wonderful day, when she turns three.
On Friday night, the night she turned three years
Ima strikes the match, a flame appears.
She holds her hand and lights the wick
After the blessing, she watches her candlestick.

To remember and cherish the seventh day of rest
To watch and guard the day we love best
Shamor and zachor, this is what we see
To keep the Shabbos and lichtalach holy.
The light that glows spreads warmth and love
That reminds us to thank the One above
For life, for growth, for that flickering flame
And our neshama yearns to always feel the same.
