When the sun goes down, all girls and women, starting from the age of three, light Shabbos candles to welcome the Shabbos Queen. It is a very special mitzvah that girls and women have the privilege to do.

When we light candles, it is an eis ratzon, an auspicious time, so we ask Hashem for many good brachos, like a refuah for the sick, to do well on a difficult test, or to bring Moshiach now!
