I just got back from 3 weeks at overnight camp, so now I’m going through the over 300 e-mails I need to respond to…
Camp–where do I begin? I need to thank Nechama Laber who started Bat Mitzvah Camp of Troy, NY (www.capitalbmc.com) for the most fantastic, amazing, incredible summer! The 3 week overnight camp’s theme was ‘Journey to Freedom’ so all our trips were connected to the Jews’ Journey to Freedom from Israel to Egypt. From all this hands on learning we also learned life lessons that we can use on our own journey through life: survival skills, staying calm, using Torah and mitzvos to reach our own potential, realizing there will be bumps in the road, going out of our limitations of what we think we can do and trying harder, Hashem’s protection, keeping the goal in sight……I could go on and on. And the trips–white-water rafting, duck tours, Great Escape splash water kingdom, alpine sliding, go-karting, kayaking, laser tag, mall scavenger hunt, fireworks, tubby tubing, water slides, bowling…..But it’s the fabulous counselors & campers who make BMC what it is–thank you!
During camp, we also worked on a production (based on a previous article in YALDAH-Lieba’s Miracle) and I was the Editor of the camp newsletter.
Well, girls check it out for next year because you will have an amazing summer–www.capitalbmc.com!!
