We sat and sang
Around the fire
Orange glow
In black of night,

We didn’t need
The stars to shine;
Our eyes were lit
Up, clear and bright.

They shone of dreams
Despite the darkness,
Hope and faith
Despite the fear,

And as we sang
There, something stirred, we
Felt a sense
That good was near.

We sat and sang
Around the fire,
Freedom glowed
In black of night

We sat and sang
In spite of dark
There was a sense
That all was right.
