This is hot cocoa and this is doughnut. They’re both very shy. No, just kidding :)

During these freezing cold, snowy winter days, I spend some of my time making yummy hot cocoa after school.  Then, I start taking the pictures. Which one do you think is better?

I started with the flash on for the photos, but then I realized that it didn’t go well with the picture at all. The picture turned out looking like I had edited and photo-shopped it a million times over.  Nope, not for me!

I turned off the flash and guess what? That actually worked better. I was in a well-lit area, so turning the flash off was better for the picture.

The secret recipe for my hot cocoa is actually very simple:

First, I dumped two spoonfuls of hot cocoa mix (pareve, meaning neither dairy nor meat) into the mug and added hot water. Then, I mixed it and added mini marshmallows to it. Lastly, I topped it off was the whipped cream and drizzled caramel syrup.  It’s to die for, especially on hot cocoa!

I got a black backdrop, thanks to my stove top, and tried different angles. I shot mostly on my counter top than on my stove top. My favorite angle is the angle that is on eye level with the whipped cream, marshmallows and caramel syrup. It’s my favorite because you get to see everything that was on top of it (yum)!  I also tried a few photos of putting the ingredients in the back, blurred out. I didn’t like it because it takes away from the actual photo.

If you don’t like hot cocoa and you see this picture you might just start liking it…

FOTW: Chocolate is poisonous to dogs! I actually did not know that…
