As I walk to the camp dining room, I look ahead and see all the girls, part of the sleepaway camp Pardes Chana, milling around the table filled with tea-lights for the girls to light. The very first Shabbos in camp I suddenly feel a wave of homesickness, wishing I was back home in New Jersey with my family instead of up in Montreal. Then I feel a new feeling — a feeling of calmness, peacefulness, and a feeling of happiness. I walk to the table to light. When I finish, I walk to my sister to give her a Shabbos hug.
