I hope you’ve all been enjoying A Change in Freezeville so far. Here’s part 3, and I hope you like it!

I don’t really like the ending so much, so comment below a new ending for the story, and you can also comment with a prompt for the next story.

A Change in Freezeville Part 3

Nope!” Lettuce remained firm. “Why should I come down? I told you my reasons, and they are completely valid.” She picked her hands up in frustration. “I- YIKES!!!!!”

Lettuce fell down from Freezeville, and landed gently on the kitchen floor.

You did that!” She yelled, pointing a finger at Tom. “You made it slippery so I should fall, so that I could help you.”

Well now that you are down here, can you help us?” Apple asked.

Lettuce grimaced and rubbed an ugly bruise tenderly.

Alright,” she said between clenched teeth. “I guess I’ll help you.”

She grudgingly picked up the end of the wire, and all the townsfood cheered.

Thank you!” Tom sighed with relief. “Now everyone, PULL! NOW PUSH!!”

And before they knew it, the plug was in the outlet.

Great job, everyone!” Orange shouted gleefully.

But how do we get back to Freezeville?” Cherry wondered aloud, gazing up at the town.

We have to climb. There are magnets that we can cling to.” Tom said.

But I’ve never done this before!” Lettuce moaned. “How do you do it?”

Tom grabbed onto a magnet. “Watch me.”

He climbed slowly and carefully, and within a minute, reached the village.

The other foods followed his movements with ease, but Lettuce slipped again and again.

I can’t do it!” she said, stamping her foot angrily. “I’ve tried five times already. Sure, you all got back to Freezeville. But me, who came down even when I didn’t want to, is stuck on the kitchen floor. You all planned this! You don’t like me, so you planned to get rid of me. It was all part of the plan!” She sobbed.

Lettuce, we would never do such a thing!” Tom soothed. “You are one of the sweetest foods I’ve ever met. Just try one more time. If it doesn’t work, I’ll roll down there and help you out.”

Lettuce looked up at him and wiped the tears off her face. “You would do that for me?”

Tom looked shocked. “You think I’m joking? Of course I would do it for you! Come on, you can do it!”

Lettuce flexed her muscles. “I can do it!” she shouted, and grabbed a magnet.

You can do it! You can do it!” Tom cheered. The other townsfood joined in.

You can do it! You can do it!”

Lettuce got closer and closer. As she neared the top, Tom extended his hand to her, and pulled her in, just as the doors swung shut. Everyone let out a sigh of relief. They sang and danced and lifted Tom high on their shoulders, cheering.

Tom turned redder then he was already.

As soon as he was placed back down, everyone sank tiredly onto the ground.

I…I really need to apologize.” Lettuce said when everyone was quiet. “I have been acting rude because I was so proud that I came from Mark’s Market. I know Dave’s Grocery isn’t as nice and clean, but there’s something important you learn there.” Lettuce glanced around before continuing. “It’s unity, teamwork. Today showed me how important even one food can be, and I’m really sorry. I know you can never forgive me, but I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am.”

Everyone looked on incredulously as Tom walked up to Lettuce.

Lettuce, I forgive you with a full heart. I would be the same way if I came from where you did.”

At that moment, all of Freezeville knew that Lettuce would never be the same.
