Hi.
Last week, there was not much going on, but just two things happened.
Last week, I only had homework on Friday. When I go home on Fridays, I don’t really do my homework because it’s right before Shabbat, and I also don’t do my homework on Saturday, because it’s still Shabbat. On Sundays, I spend time with my family, but sometimes I finish my homework then. Sometimes, though, I just don’t have the time.
I explain to my teachers that it’s hard for me to do my homework over the weekend. There are times that they give me an extra day, but some of those times my grade does go down by one point or grade.
Another thing I want to tell you is about me and my friends. It’s very hard for me to get together with my school friends over the weekends. A lot if times on Shabbat/ Saturday afternoons when I’m at the park, they are out doing things with their families, and on Sunday I’m busy doing things with my family. However, I am able to videochat with them after I’m done with my homework, dinner, and any other chores my parents ask me to do. So, in a way, it’s like getting together with them….
Stay tuned for more!
Hi, Rivka Chaya, it’s your adult cousin Esther in Chicago. We are so impressed with your column and so proud of you! And I’m really happy that you’re happy in school! May I comment on the weekend homework thing? Your cousin Sarah, who’s in 8th grade, also doesn’t do homework on Fridays, even when there’s time. When she has a lot of work, and has plans on Sunday, she does some after Shabbos, if it’s doesn’t end too late. Then she does some Sunday morning. Then she finishes up on Sunday evening. When she doesn’t do enough of it before she goes somewhere on Sunday, she ends up with TOO MUCH to do Sunday night, which is not good.
Anyway, keep up the good work!
Yes. Homework is also a big issue for me. I end up doing it all on Sunday, becuase I hang out with friends Motzei Shabbos. Usually it works out that I am sometimes done with all my homework before dinner, so I can maybe play a game or something after. Not only that, but my Sundays are also busy because I have to practice viola and piano. You should take your teachers letting you off the hook as a bracha, because a lot of other people such as me don’t have that oppurtunity. Don’t get too used to it, though because your teachers may not give you the opportunity in the higher grades. That was such a nice post!
keep it up !
