Deep in her tent, I smelled the bread baked and doughy like hers does
Her candles are burning bright, shining in colors – rainbowed, chiffon light of love
Walking through the sand I felt her embrace in my hands
She saw my face, and then smiled, wiping my tears among the sandy path of her embraceShe saw my light, she saw my light (x2)
Daughter of Haran, born and raised
Little did she know that she would soon escape
With her husband Avraham, the nomadic dweller and preacher
Of the one true G-d, Hashem!!!
Sarah and Avraham listened to Him…She saw my light, she saw my light (x2)
As a young girl she had several names
Sarai, “my princess,” and Yiscah, “Seer”
For a prophetess she was, and at her beauty people would gaze
However, both are somewhat limiting
Her name was switched from Sarai to Sarah
My princess, for all eternity
My princess, for all eternityShe saw my light, she saw my light (x2)
In a famine, they had travel to Egypt
Avraham hid Sarah in a large box
She played the role as his sister
To spare Avraham’s life
Through her prayer Pharaoh was afflicted
And G-d blessed Avraham and Sarah with gifts that were unlimitedShe saw my light, she saw my light (x2)
I saw her sparkling eyes like diamonds in the sky
Her warm embrace is like mother’s grace near mine
I could see within the guests filled with laughter and love
And they are like dancing lilies, like butterflies flying above
Her spark that took us far and near gave us the beauty of her golden heart
I’ve got to give my all, for her wise mind was her strength and powerShe saw my light, she saw my light (x2)
Three angels came and visited Avraham
They told him he and Sarah would have a son
That they would name Yitzchak
They would one day raise a child of their destiny and wisdom
She laughed so hard – she couldn’t believe it
Because within that moment she thought she was dreaming itShe saw my light, she saw my light (x2)
I saw Hashem when he spoke to Avraham
Sarah always trusted in Hashem because her faith was tough as steel
I’ve got to believe that He is going to be my guide
Sarah had to trust Hashem that her Yitzchak was going to be fine
Tough though he is, precious child of mineShe saw my light, she saw my light (x2)
I took on more to keep her legacy gleaming in the twilight
She saw my lustrous soul beaming in colorful highlights
I’ve got to use my voice to embrace light, like she taught us how
She cherished me in her arms like a squishy hug held tight
I gazed at her with an inner strength that kept me strong all through the night
We can learn from her and relate, in our lives as Jewish women
We are continuing her legacy as an entire nationShe saw my light she my light (x3)
