Helena Peiser, Nashville TN spoke these words from her heart at the Sivan Virtual Celebration.
I want to thank everyone who made this Shine Your Inner Light campaign happen.
It’s very important to have a Jewish Virtual learning environment where Jewish girls can learn and interact with one another. For those of us who live in a small Jewish Community, I’m sure you know what it feels like to not have enough Jewish girls around our age to hang out with. Thanks to Jewish Girl’s Unite (JGU) and Jewish Girl’s Retreat (JGR), Jewish girls now have their own Jewish virtual social learning media to make friends and learn from each and every girl. I always enjoy hearing Nechama Laber’s voice at our weekly class called Beyond Bat Mitzvah. We learn all about great Jewish women of our past and how we can follow in their ways. Nechama is an encouraging example and role model for Jewish Girls to learn and gain knowledge from.
As I learned from JGR, we all stand together as one big family. I feel the same way whenever I come to JGU. JGU has helped me be able to socialize and learn with Jewish girls. Where I live, there’s not a whole lot of Jewish girls who are very interested in Judaism. Most of my friends are from JGU and JGR. The first class I attended on JGU, I was a little nervous at first because I didn’t know half of the girls. Now we are almost finished with this year and I feel very comfortable online with them and enjoy chatting in the Chat box with them. Every single girl has treated me with kindness and respect. One thing to remember is that JGU is a warm loving environment where girls of all backgrounds are respected for who they are and what they do.
Just remember, we are all unique in our own way and we have the potential to make a difference and to become great role models as Jewish women in our Community. We can continue to carry on the traditions of our matriarchs, Sarah, Rivka, Rochel, and Leah.
Thanks to those again who helped make The Shine Your Inner light campaign possible.
