If you are almost a Bat Mitzvah and are thinking something like “Ahh! What in the world am I supposed to do! What does this mean?”, have no fear!

This blog is going to tell you everything you need to know and some tips for how to do them and stay on top of things.

Well, let’s get the party planning started!!

First of all, the term Bat Mitzvah doesn’t refer to your 12th birthday celebration- it refers to you. Yup, you read that right! It refers to you, the princess of the evening!

Becoming a Bat Mitzvah means becoming a Jewish woman. Once you turn twelve, you become responsible for all the mitzvos. That’s were ‘Bat Mitzvah’ (daughter of mitzvos) fits in! Until now, it’s just been practice- now it’s the real deal! (scary, huh? ;))

One thing to keep in mind is that becoming a Bat Mitzvah is not about the party. It’s not about the pool party or the awesome sleepover you had with your friends. Nor is it about the sushi platter that fell on the floor and you had to order a new one 20 minutes before your party started! It’s about you. And not because your the star of the evening. It’s about you becoming a Jewish woman.  Becoming a Bat Mitzvah is an amazing milestone in your life.

So, of course you should have an awesome party, but you should also add some meaning to your day. Give extra tzedaka (charity), daven (pray) with an extra fervor,  make your day meaningful!

Well, I can’t wait to share some more really awesome things with you!

Don’t be shy to post your ideas or questions in the comments!

Thanks so much,

Tehila
