You may think that pinning is straight forward, but it isn’t. If you are careful, it can be pretty easy. There are a few things you should know. When you are pinning, you should be sure to pin perpendicular to the seam. This is so that if you accidentally sew over the pin with your sewing machine, you won’t break the needle. You should also be sure to make sure there are no bumps and that the fabric is smooth. When you are pinning the fabric to the pattern, though, you should pin the fabric parallel to the lines of the pattern within the pattern. This way your fabric doesn’t slip. You can also use the pins, before pinning the pattern to the fabric, to help keep the pattern in the correct direction with the grain line. When you doe these things, pinning isn’t just something you have to do, it’s something fun and easy too.

Hi, fellow blogger! For awhile, when I was sewing with small pieces of felt, I was using paper clips to hold the pieces together. :)
I’ve discovered the hard way what happens when I don’t smooth out all the lumps in my projects…!
